Doris Dowling was an American actress and singer, born on May 15, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan. She began her career in the 1940s as a singer and dancer in nightclubs before transitioning to film acting.
Dowling is best known for her roles in classic films such as "The Lost Weekend" (1945), directed by Billy Wilder, in which she played the supporting role of Gloria, the girlfriend of the main character Don Birnam. She also appeared in other films including "Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard" (1950) and "The Blue Dahlia" (1946).
In addition to her film career, Dowling also worked on television in shows such as "Perry Mason" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents". She continued to act in both film and television throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
Dowling passed away on June 18, 2004 in Los Angeles, California at the age of 81. She left behind a legacy of memorable performances and contributions to classic Hollywood cinema.
